Eurotowns took part in the Urban Future Conference, which was held in Rotterdam from 4 to 6 June. Under the title „Big enough to cope, small enough to care – How medium-sized cities are leading sustainability“, the network made an active contribution to the diverse conference programme with an official Eurotowns workshop.
In his welcoming address, Christian Gangl, First Mayor of Sindelfingen and President of Eurotowns, explained why the work of the network is important for medium-sized cities in Europe in order to network them and make their interests heard at European level.
The three member cities of the network Gävle, Solingen and Varberg then presented local best practices on how sustainability can be promoted at local level. These examples were then discussed in small groups with regard to their further development and transferability to other cities.
The exchange of ideas was rounded off by the subsequent Eurotowns Mayor Meet & Greet, where the workshop participants were able to get to know each other more informally and make new contacts.
