Eurotowns Task Team Mobility Meeting

From 26 to 27 May 2016, there took place a meeting of the Task Team Mobility in Hasselt (Belgium). Focus of this meeting was on local cycling policy. Other Eurotowns members present were Detmold (Germany) and Girona (Spain). The meeting had different important aspects like the ambitious cycling plan of Hasselt, the Fietsberaad Vlaanderen describing assets of cycling for local authorities or save cycling trips to School. Alongside with the exchange of experiences, the aim of the meeting was to plan an application for European funding for a project regarding local cycling policy.

11:00 – 11:15 Introduction and overview of the meeting
11:15 – 11:30 Setting the scene – ingredients for a successful local cycling policy
11:30 – 12:00 Fietsberaad Vlaanderen: assets of cycling for local authorities. The Flemish example
12:00 – 12:45 Introducing the new, ambitious cycling plan for Hasselt
13:45 – 14:15 IMOB – GO2school: safe cycling trips to school
14:15 – 16:15 Cycling tour Hasselt to the abbey of Herkenrode. Including exercise / reflection on specific cases
16:30 – 18:00 Workshop lessons learned and exchange local cycling policy

Friday 27th May 2016

09:00 – 10:00 Presentation of cycling policy in the city of Gent
10:00 – 10:30 Sharing is (s)caring? Interactions between buses and bicyclists on bus lanes shared with bicyclists
10:45 – 11:15 Presentation on EU funding programs
11:15 – 12:45 Discussion related to urban cycling policy; Brainstorming on common EU-proposal
12:00 – 13:00 Lunch + Networking
