Our President, Christian Gangl, and our Vice-President, Serena Foracchia, signed yesterday officially the Cohesion Alliance for the Eurotowns Network at CoR. They were welcomed by the President of the CoR, Karl-Heinz Lambertz, in order to discuss together how to increase the involvement of medium-sized cities in the future cohesion policy.

Three member cities of the Eurotowns network – Girona as lead partner, Gävle and Reggio Emilia – are participating in the Interreg SCHOOL mobility CHAllenge in regioNal poliCiEs (School Chance) Project with five other European cities.
Save the date! Already in the past years, Eurotowns organised three workshops during the European Week of Regions and Cities in Brussels. Also this year’s application has successfully been accepted. The workshop will deal with the topic “Integration in medium-sized cities: big enough to cope, small enough to care”.

Following the decision of the Interreg Europe Monitoring committee, 66 Projects were approved under 2nd Call of Interreg Europe. The Eurotowns community has been very successful and four cities of the Network – Sabadell, Girona, Reggio Emilia and Gävle – will participate in two approved projects.

Eurotowns congretulates Girona for winning the Europe Prize of 2016. This prize is awarded by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) each year since 1955. It honours towns that are most active in promoting the European ideal.
